GSSC 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as on 08 August 2025):

  • State Tax Inspector: Not exceeding 30 years.
  • All Other Posts: Not exceeding 45 years.
  • Age Relaxation:
    • Government Servants: Up to five years.
    • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.
    • OBC: 3 years relaxation.
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 years relaxation.
    • PwD from SC/ST category: 15 years relaxation.
    • PwD from OBC category: 13 years relaxation.
    • Ex-servicemen: As per rules in force, subject to a maximum of 56 years for all categories.

Educational Qualification (as on 08 August 2025):

  • Accountant: Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Arts with Economics. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Assistant State Tax Officer: Degree (preferably in Economics or Commerce). Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • State Tax Inspector: Degree in Commerce and Economics. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable). Physical requirements also apply.
  • Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil): Degree or Diploma in concerned Engineering branch. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Extension Officer: Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture. Knowledge of Computer application and Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Station Operator: Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or equivalent, ITI Certificate in Electrician trade OR National Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrician trade OR 3 years experience in electrical field. Knowledge of Computer and Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Assistant Sub-Inspector (Wireless Operator): SSC or equivalent, Diploma in Electronics OR 5 years practical experience in repairs/operation of wireless equipment OR Ex-Serviceman as Gr. I Wireless Operator with 2 years experience. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Mechanic Grade I (Diesel): Diploma in Mechanical Engineering OR Certificate in Diesel Mechanic from ITI with 3 years experience in Marine Diesel Engine maintenance. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Agriculture Assistant: Higher Secondary School Certificate in Vocational Stream (Agriculture) OR SSC with 2 years Diploma in Agriculture. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Electrician: Certificate of Electrician from Govt. Electrical Instructor or ITI Trade Certificate in Electrician. 2 years practical experience as Electrician. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Lineman/Wireman: Certificate in Electrician trade (NCVT/SCVT) with 2 years experience OR National Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrician trade. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Meter Reader: SSC or equivalent, ITI Certificate in Electrician or Electronic, Diploma in Computer. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Assistant Electrician: ITI Certificate in Electrician. 3 years experience as Electrician. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Assistant Mechanic: Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 1 year experience in printing/allied equipment maintenance/repairing OR ITI Certificate in Mechanical trade with 3 years experience. Must pass qualifying trade test. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Asstt. Light Operator: ITI Certificate in Electrical. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).
  • Helper (Electrician): ITI Certificate in relevant trade OR minimum 2 years experience in relevant trade. Knowledge of Konkani (Essential), Marathi (Desirable).

Experience Requirements:

  • While many posts are open to freshers meeting the educational qualifications, some positions require specific prior experience:
    • Assistant State Tax Officer: At least 2 years experience in commercial accounts.
    • State Tax Inspector: 1 year work experience with a Chartered Accountant/Tax Practitioner or in Finalization of Accounts in Banking Institutes or as Account Clerk/Account Assistant.
    • Station Operator: 3 years experience in the electrical field (if no NCVT/ITI certificate).
    • Assistant Sub-Inspector (Wireless Operator): At least 5 years practical experience in repairs and/or operation of wireless equipment (if no Diploma in Electronics).
    • Mechanic Grade I (Diesel): 3 years experience in maintenance in Marine Diesel Engine (if ITI certificate).
    • Electrician: 2 years practical experience as Electrician.
    • Assistant Electrician: 3 years experience as Electrician.
    • Assistant Mechanic: 1 year experience of maintenance/repairing of printing and allied equipments OR 3 years experience in the trade (Mechanical) if ITI certificate.
    • Helper (Electrician): Minimum two years experience in the relevant trade (if no ITI certificate).
  • The cut-off date for determining eligibility criteria towards experience is the last date of application (August 08, 2025).

GSSC Selection Process

The selection process for the GSSC posts is designed to identify the most suitable candidates:

Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) - Tier I & Tier II

The selection will be based on marks obtained in the Computer Based Test (CBT) examination. Some posts will have a Two-Tier CBT (CBT-I for screening, CBT-II for final merit), while others will have a Single-Tier CBT.

Important: There will be **no negative marking** for the Computer Based Test. Minimum passing marks are 45% for Unreserved, 40% for OBC/PwD, and 35% for SC/ST. A minimum of 4 marks out of 10 in the Konkani language section is mandatory for further evaluation.

Stage 2: Physical Endurance Test (PET) / Physical Standards (for State Tax Inspector)

Candidates applying for the **State Tax Inspector** post must undergo and clear a Physical Endurance Test (PET) and meet specific Physical Standards. Only those who clear PET will be allowed to appear for CBT-II Examination.

For Male Candidates:

  • Minimum height: 167 cms.
  • Chest: 75 cms.
  • Walking Test: 1600 Meters in 20 Minutes.

For Female Candidates:

  • Minimum height: 158 cms.
  • Weight: 48 kgs.
  • Walking Test: One Kilometer in 20 Minutes.
Stage 3: Shortlisting & Merit List

Candidates will be shortlisted based on merit in CBT-I (for Two-Tier exams) or directly from CBT (for Single-Tier exams). For Two-Tier CBT, 10 times the number of posts in each category will be shortlisted for CBT-II (5 times for Sl. No. 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 17 posts). The final selection will be based on marks obtained in CBT-II only (for Two-Tier) or CBT-I (for Single-Tier).

In case of a tie in marks, the candidate born earlier (older in age) will be given precedence.

Stage 4: Document Verification & Final Appointment

The Commission will recommend candidates based on merit and the choices exercised by the candidate (for posts with common CBT-II). Final appointment is subject to verification of all documents, residence certificate, employment exchange registration, birth certificate, caste/disability certificates, and other instructions issued by the Government of Goa.


Important Guidelines for Applicants:

  • Candidates must fill the application form through **online mode only** via the Commission's website.
  • You must possess the requisite educational qualifications, a valid 15-year residence certificate issued by the Competent Authority in Goa, and registration with the Employment Exchange, Goa/valid Employment registration Card.
  • Candidates must submit a **separate application for each post** if eligible, even if the CBT is common for more than one post.
  • The cut-off date for determining eligibility criteria (educational qualifications, age limit, experience, etc.) shall be the **last date of application (August 08, 2025)**.

  • The date of examination will be intimated in due course through the website of the Commission and publication in local daily newspapers.
