Eligibility Criteria (as on July 01, 2025)
Age Limit:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
- Age Relaxation:
- SC, ST, BC, and EWS: 5 Years
- SC/ST for Carried Forward vacancies: 10 Years
- Other relaxations as per Government rules.
Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed the **Intermediate Examination or its equivalent**.
- Candidates claiming equivalence of qualification must produce a copy of the Government Orders to the Commission within 10 days of the last date for submitting applications.
Physical Requirements:
- For Male Candidates:
- Height: Not less than 163 Cms.
- Chest: Not less than 84 Cms round the chest on full inspiration, with a chest expansion of not less than 5 Cms on full inspiration.
- For Women Candidates:
- Height: Not less than 150 Cms.
- Chest: Not less than 79 Cms round the chest on full inspiration, with a chest expansion of not less than 5 Cms on full inspiration.
- Height Relaxation: Minimum height is relaxable by 5 Cms for candidates belonging to Gurkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, NAFA, Naga, Manipur, Gauhati, Kummoni, Sikkimese, Bhutanese, and Scheduled Tribes.

APPSC Forest Officer Selection Procedure
The selection process for APPSC Forest Beat Officer and Assistant Beat Officer is designed to identify the most suitable candidates. Here's a breakdown of the stages:
A Screening Test will be conducted if the number of applicants exceeds 200 times the number of vacancies. This will be an objective-type examination held in offline (OMR based) mode.
Scheme:
- Part A: General Studies & Mental Ability (75 Questions, 75 Marks, 150 Minutes)
- Part B: General Science and General Mathematics (SSC Standard) (75 Questions, 75 Marks, 75 Minutes)
- Total: 150 Questions, 150 Marks
Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks prescribed for the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on merit in the Screening Test, in a ratio decided by the Commission.
The Main Examination will also be an objective-type test held in offline (OMR based) mode.
Scheme:
- Qualifying Test: Writing an essay in English or Telugu or Urdu (Descriptive Type) - 1 Question, 45 Minutes, 50 Marks (Essay on theme relating to Forests and Environment).
- Paper-I: General Studies & Mental Ability (100 Questions, 100 Marks, 100 Minutes)
- Paper-II: General Science and General Mathematics (SSC Standard) (100 Questions, 100 Marks, 100 Minutes)
- Total (Objective Papers): 200 Questions, 200 Marks
Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks prescribed for the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Appearance in all papers of the Main Examination is compulsory for qualification.
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be subjected to a Walking Test and a Medical Examination, arranged by the Forest Department in concurrence with APPSC. These tests are qualifying in nature and do not carry marks.
Walking Test: Male candidates must complete 25 Kms in 4 hours, and Women candidates must complete 16 Kms in 4 hours.
Medical Examination: Conducted by a Medical Board at Rajamahendravaram to assess sound hearing and general physical fitness for outdoor work in the Forest Department.
Candidates who qualify in the Walking Test and Medical Examination will be shortlisted for the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
Scheme: Practical Type, 60 Minutes, 100 Maximum Marks.
Minimum Qualifying Marks: SC/ST: 30%, BCs: 35%, OC/Ex-Servicemen/EWS: 40%.

The final selection will be made from among the candidates who have qualified in the Physical Tests (Walking Test and Medical Examination) and CPT, based on the marks secured in the Main Written Examination. This OTPR is not an application for any post, but a prerequisite.
