Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026):
- For both General Duty (GD) and Technical branches: Candidates must be born between **01 July 2001 and 30 June 2005** (both dates inclusive).

- Technical (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics):
- Should hold an Engineering degree from a recognized university in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics and Communication, Power Engineering, or Power Electronics.
- OR Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognized by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section 'A' and 'B' and their associate membership examination (AMIE).

Indian Coast Guard Selection Procedure
The selection of Assistant Commandants is a multi-stage process based on an all-india order of merit. Clearing all five stages is compulsory:
This is a computer-based online screening test conducted at designated centers across India. It consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), with 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 negative mark for each incorrect answer. The test duration is two hours, and the medium is English.
Subjects: English (25 Qs), Reasoning & Numerical Ability (25 Qs), General Science & Mathematical Aptitude (25 Qs), General Knowledge (25 Qs).
An All India category-wise merit list for Stage-I will be prepared based on marks scored. The Indian Coast Guard has the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all subjects.
Shortlisted candidates from Stage-I will appear for PSB, conducted for a day at centers like Noida, Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Shillong/Guwahati, and Gandhinagar. Candidates will undergo a Computerized Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT). The CCBT is objective and in English. For PP&DT, candidates can speak in English, Hindi, or a combination. This stage is qualifying in nature (recommended/not recommended).
Verification: Photo and biometric verification will be conducted. Document verification will also be done against uploaded documents. Any discrepancy may lead to cancellation of candidature.
Candidates qualifying Stage-II will be intimated for Stage-III, conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) in Noida over four/five days. This stage includes Psychological Tests, Group Tasks, and an Interview (Personality Test).
Free boarding & lodging facilities are provided only for the duration of FSB.
Candidates who clear Stage-III undergo a special medical examination at Base Hospital, New Delhi, as per prescribed medical standards. Candidates declared unfit can appeal the verdict at a designated service hospital. A Review Medical Board (RMB) may be granted based on the merits of the case, and its decision will be final.
Medical Standards:
- Height: 157 cms minimum (relaxations for hilly/tribal areas).
- Weight: Proportionate to Height and Age (+/- 10% acceptable).
- Chest: Well-proportioned, minimum expansion 5 cms.
- Hearing: Normal.
